We ignored one of the reason for Shirdi Sai incarnation – Uniting people of all religion “Sabka Maalik Ek”

Sairam friends,

When I created StarSai in 2004, I wrote about what the 3 holy books speaks about “Giving”  – The Bagavad Gita, Quran and the Bible. In 2008, a girl who was doing her masters in the U.S wrote me saying Christians are converting several thousand Hindus and even hurting those who don’t agree with their values in the villages of Andhra. She told me, its important for us to spread the message the one must follow his/her own religion.

So I wrote this article – Born Hindu, Learn the value of Hinduism

Being an Hindu, I write articles on most of the Hindu Gods and Goddess as I worship them a lot. Shirdi Saibaba appreciates and encourages one to follow his own religion faithfully. If you are a Hindu, follow what your ancestors did and if you are a Christian or Muslim, be faithful to your God.

I have seen some Sai devotees speak ill of people from other religion forgetting one of the biggest reason for Sai’s incarnation on Earth. There were lots of communal violence during early 19th century in India. We had differences with people of other religion. The Britishers actually used this as one of our weakness.

If you see Sai’s life in Shirdi very keenly, you can realize Saibaba has subconsciously made people of all religion to love each other and live in harmony. Those days things were very traditional and hence people of one religion will not bother about others during festivals. But what happened in Shirdi?

From 1905, every year Ram Navami was celebrated by Hindus during which time the Muslims also celebrated their own festival. Its honestly a big achievement to unite Hindus and Muslims and make them celebrate a festival without even a small argument in a crowd of over 5000. This unity spread across the length and breadth of Maharastra. Sai movement is like a wave that what ever good happened gradually spread across India.

As time went on, we forgot it. We only remember “Sai and our self and our family”.

We forgot why this poor fakir incarnated and what path he showed us.

We basically forgot his way of life and values. This is because Saibaba never “preached” anything. Sai simply lived and showed us what’s good for us.

A Sai devotee, Muthukumaran found that I don’t have any Saibaba photos to post and sent me this painting he has requested an artist to work on and re-touched digitally. Thanks to Muthu for such a good work. I am surprised because yesterday morning, I had a dream as if I am shooting a film in which I touch topics such as “God is One – Sabka Maalik Ek”. In the evening, I received this mail.

Shirdi Saibaba

Sabka Maalik Ek – Shirdi Saibaba

I will continue to write about Hindu Gods as I love them but please remember that I also believe in Uniting people of all religion as that’s the greatest mission of Shirdi Saibaba. He wants us to live happily in harmony.

You know, When Saibaba had his Samadhi, his body was kept 2 days since the people of different religion were arguing upon what to do. To bury and make a Samadhi or burn it. Finally, it was decided that his sacred body will be kept intact for us to worship the Samadhi today.

A year before his Samadhi, Saibaba suddenly behaved rude in Dwarakamai and was angry on everyone. When the village people stood infront of Dwarakamai, Sai removed his Kafni, threw it into the holy fire of Dhuni and said

“Look at me. Am I a Hindu or Muslim?”

This body doesn’t belong to any religion and I am only a servant of God.

After a while, Sai calmed down and he wore a different kafni. Why did Saibaba behave like this? Sai tried a lot all his life to unite people of all religion and finally he realized his devotees might be separated based on what religion he belongs to. Hence he proved that he doesn’t belong to any religion and he simply wishes to be a humble servant of God.

Finally, even during Saibaba’s Samadhi, we people were quarrelling. The argument, differences and quarrel continues till date.

Did we forget his goal and ignore his feelings. The very reason why such a powerful saint incarnated when India was struggling for freedom? We must be united. Else, Someone else will take advantage of our weakness.

Communal harmony is the soul of the Nation.

Saibaba simply wants us to live in peace and harmony.

  • Sri Ramakrishna Parmahamsa had explained the meaning of Sai and even sang a song of Baba’s advent like -a medicant has come ……..Baba was then called simply as Sai.
