Experiment: Being active depends on the work we do and our state of mind

Sairam friends,

This article is continuation of my what I wrote yesterday – What the world is doing when my eyes are closing after lunch?

I was worried why I feel sleepy most afternoons after lunch. Surprisingly, I never felt sleepy today and  happy about it. I purposely slept late last night to experiment myself. Then, Why didn’t I feel sleepy?

While traveling to Shirdi Saibaba temple after work, I was analyzing the reasons.

1. I kept my mind in peace and was exited about what I am doing.

2. In between my work, I read few articles about Tech, Startups etc which made me think, I also must do something like this.

3. Someone wanted to make a reference library kind of stuff at work place and asked me to print books. I was exited because I like printing and books though these are books I would never get interested to read. Today, I had no one to accompany me to go to printing house but I enjoyed doing it.

Note – Its not my job to do it but being into photography for several years, I had always believed in personally being at printing house no matter what we design. So I made this as a habit. This time, it was just books.

Someone kept telling me, I will send the office boy to collect it. I think its strange to ask someone else to do it. We don’t go any less corporate if we do such work which many don’t understand.

4. After lunch, I continued with my work but never felt sleepy.

So based on this experiment, we come to a conclusion that irrespective of how tired we are physically, if we keep our mind clear and exited, we will be active.

I also realized that when ever I take any initiative on my own and do any work, I don’t feel sleepy. If I do a day to day task, I get bored of it and obviously feel sleepy. I don’t contribute much but now a days, I honestly look for doing something that brings in revenue though that’s not my job.

Stories from Saibaba’s life:

I was remembering about how Saibaba treats each devotee differently.

Sai has millions of devotees but he treats each one based on their own desire, nature and goal in life.

Example

During his lifetime in Shirdi, Saibaba used to give variety of foods and tasty foods to most devotees who comes to have his darshan. Sai encourages them to eat well and sleep well peacefully.

But some devotees were treated in a opposite way.

I think its Abdul or Bade Baba. Not sure. Saibaba tells him “Eat very little. Don’t go for variety of foods.  Have little quantity of food.”

Why this treatment to Abdul alone?

Saibaba also tells him ” Do not sleep much. Sleep just 3-4 hours a day.”

Sai used to wake him up at night 1 o clock and ask him to read Quaran.

According to Sai, Abdul is a spiritual seeker and other devotees come to him for materialistic desires to be fulfilled. People who are in to worldly life can enjoy all comforts and people who seek enlightenment must have restrictions and lead a disciplined life.

I agree, I am not a hard worker but I don’t want to get embarrassed Saibaba. Please be with me always. I can do my other projects and work related to StarSai only if I am awake at night but I also wish to be active at work place.

Sai ki Jai
