Sairam friends,
I am planning project for Sai devotees especially since I am deeply hurt young people who are depressed are hooked to fake guru’s and we need to fix it. Will keep you posted on the same.
Life has taught me to be kind to people with any kind of status in society. There’s this guy called Sathyam who’s one of my good friend. During pandemic, he used to pick trash in various places in out-skirts of Coimbatore, pack it in his cycle and earn life living. Other devotees will annoy him saying he could do some other work. Well, his parents passed away early and his Mother’s elder sister raised him but did not send him to school. She did not know it’s important.
Later, he worked here and there and finally working as a sales guy in a textile shop now. I often ask him to hold on to his job as no one is going to pay his rent. He’s from Tirupati and hold a small piece of land there. People wanted to buy that land. I ask him to hold that land safe as it will help him as he gets old in future.
Once, this guy was working in a soap job washing utensils and doing some odd work. Sai devotees used to again annoy him. I used to tell them not to comment on the work he does.
Can you help a graduate get a job. You can’t. Then, shut your mouth and let people do what they know to do.
Anyway, this guy comes in his cycle once in a while to Saibaba temple here in Coimbatore to meet me. I always tell him, why come to meet me? Come to see Saibaba. I used to talk to him for a while.
When my Appa passed away, I missed to call him the same day. None of my friends came home as it was pandemic. But this guy came almost everyday for the next 2-3 month to help me and my mother.
Last night while I was sweeping Saibaba temple, this guy came and after my work, I spoke to him. He is currently working in a textile shop. He said that he had hair loss in one patch of his head alone and went to a skin doctor spending Rs.5000. I told him not to worry much about all these and be happy that he’s healthy.
I have spoken to several people across India as a part of my work. Some will be very young but they will have major health issues. Some will be just graduated but they will get some auto immune disease and cannot walk for rest of their life.
My Sister’s Father in law worked across the world, worked in a University in the US, has guided several research scholars. But for the past 2 years, he’s bed ridden. He is a kind human and have created several students to get amazing career. Why should he suffer in the last stage of his life?
Elder care is an art and also expensive be it in India or the US. We also cannot die as we wish. Until we die, if we cannot take care of ourselves, that’s the burden.
Due to age, if we loose hair or if we look older, that could worry you but that’s not a burden. You should learn how to live happily as you get old.
I told him, I lost all my hair but I am happy because it’s important for us to realize that we are getting older. This could make us a better person.
The objective of this article is not to say you should not worry about your looks. You could try a bit to make yourself look better but you should also accept genetics, environment we live in and live happy with what you are blessed with.
Wrote this article while I am working on my little project, a Software Directory.
Apologies for any mistakes or typo.
Venkat
