I get really depressed whenever I write about what’s happening in this country in terms of governance and how people are treated. So, I thought of writing something to calm down myself.
Does Saibaba believe in astrology?
We have 2 incidents in Sai Satcharitra.
1.Chapter 29 – When Saibaba asked to keep away from astrology predictions
Babu Tendulkar, the son of Mrs. Savitribai Tendulkar, was studying medicine. He was highly stressed and deeply depressed about his upcoming examinations because astrologers and palmists had predicted that he would fail that year. Out of immense anxiety, he even considered skipping the test altogether.
Baba’s Verdict: When his mother brought this worry to Dwarkamai, Sai Baba firmly brushed the predictions aside and said:
“Tell your son to believe in Me, to throw aside horoscopes and predictions of astrologers and palmists and go on with his studies. Let him appear for the examination with a calm mind, he is sure to pass this year.”
Babu trusted Baba’s words, sat for the exams, and passed successfully, proving that a guru’s grace completely overrides planetary destiny.
2.When Baba aligned with astrology
The Sapta Shringi Guidance:
In another occurrence related to Shama (Madhavrao Deshpande), a planetary/hereditary affliction or vow required fulfillment at the temple of Sapta Shringi Devi. Even though Shama preferred to give his offerings directly to Sai Baba, Baba specifically instructed him to travel to the temple following the guidance that aligned with the astrologer’s/traditional insights.
In another chapter, a devotee was about to commit suicide. Saibaba saves him but there’s a note that he later became astrologer.
So, does Saibaba really encourage you towards astrology or not?
Here’s the answer
When Baba rejected it: He did so when astrology caused fear, inaction, or lack of faith in the Guru (as seen with Babu Tendulkar).
When Baba supported it?
He accepted it when it served a larger purpose of repaying karmic debts, traditional duties, or guiding a devotee to a specific temple or ritual .
(like guiding Shama or utilizing the village astrologer Laxman Mama)
How you should understand Sai’s ways?
Sai’s ways are unique. He wants you to see everything with birds eye view. Always remember that it is your life and no one who guides you ( Including an astrologer) can take key decisions.
The business of taking decisions
India’s astrology market could be worth a whooping 35 Billion dollar. There was this guy who once told me, my parents listens to astrologers than me. I felt bad for him.
I am not against astrology but honestly, you cannot find someone elderly and trust worthy these days. Secondly, even if you find a really trust worthy astrologer, kindly take their guidance as a summary. Think for a week, and then, take decision. Be it your work, getting married, your children’s future. It should also be your decision.
Why I am saying this? What I wrote in StarSai before my Father’s death and after that is really different. I started looking life with a perspective that anything can happen tomorrow and we should accept it.
Here’s a story I wanted to tell you. Since I respect this aunty, I have my prayers for her but she’s too much extrovert and can speak anything in any space.
I know her from Saibaba temple. Whenever I see her walking fast in the distance, I try to run away from her for she loudly asks embarressing questions.
What kind of extrovert is she?
A year back, she came near me and said “Venkat, you lost all your hair.”. I told her, “I am getting old and I am okay with it”.
Here comes the best part!
It should be few years back:
She came to me and said one of her friend’s son is not getting married. I asked her why? She was standing in the middle of temple and loudly said
“Maybe, he’s thinking if he can satisfy his wife”.
I told her, “Common!”. I have some work and walked past her wondering could can she speak like this? I don’t know to laugh or cry.
She never told me about her Son’s wedding. This is usual like the emails I get from StarSai. People will only share when something bad is happening in their life.
Fast forward to 6 month back
Dhuni was kept outside the Dwarakamai and I enjoyed dropping several sticks and burning it. She came near me and said, “My Son found out something about his wife”. I immediately got alerted. I tried to act as if I am dropping woods in Dhuni but she continued speaking.
She and I know someone who’s an astrologer. She told me, she only went to him to match the horoscope. I asked her, “Now, what happened”.
Seems her daughter in law does not want to have a child and does not respect her husband. She told me, only because of that astrologer wrong horoscope match, her Son is suffering now.
Believe me, I am writing whatever she said decently. The words she used were different.
I nodded my head and said, “Yeah. I know. He’s not a good astrologer”.
She was in pain as a mother and I have to say something to her to make her feel better. So, blaming an astrologer could make her feel “It’s not her mistake”.
Moral of the story?
Whenever you ask for advice or guidance from others, including an astrologer, make sure, you think over it for a week or month. Later, take decisions based on what you think is right.
In this aunt’s son’s case, the astrologer just matched the horoscope. But people are complicated these days. We never know who’s really good and who acts normal. So, she can blame the astrologer but he’s no more now. Even if he’s alive, will he accept that he guided wrongly?
Anyway, Yesterday, I wrote about some men who harassed a girl in Bihar and felt really depressed until night. I was thinking about the incident and it deeply hurt me.
So, decided to write something with lighter note today.
