Om Sai Ram friends,
A few days back, a girl whom I know asked me if I had come across any miracles related to Shirdi Saibaba. I usually spread this information not to focus too much on miracles and accept life like a river. Sometimes, miracles happens and sometimes, when nothing happens too, we have to accept it. We can show our anger on Sai but we should not give-up our belief in him.
Anyway, I told this girl that I always believe in Sai dreams and told her a couple of experiences. Just that, after that I asked myself how come, I had to think for a minute when someone asks me if I had any experiences of Sai miracles. I lived 2 full decades believing in Sai dreams. Every other day, I have some dream and have lived my life based on Sai dreams. I have faced lots of miracles and also humiliation due to Sai dreams. I cannot openly write about the sufferings I faced due to Sai dreams here.
Anyway, I told her to message me as I don’t think 2 decades of experiences could be shared in a small chit-chat.
I love lighting lamps and used to tell devotees to light lamps when I see them in Saibaba temple. Nowadays, devotees are regularly lighting lamps and hence I stopped saying this.
My Father saw me often speaking about Saibaba. So, he built a small Saibaba temple outside our home in 2009. I mean within our compound. Appa used to wake up at 5.30 every morning and light lamp in this temple. After my Appa passed away, I light lamp whenever I wake up.
Saw a dream as if an old neighbor lady asks me to light 4 lamps infront of our Sai temple
This lady is wife of the shop-keeper in front of our home. We know her for over 30 years. We call her Annachi Amma and that’s how I know her.
Almost 15 years back, I still remember once my Amma got fainted and she came to our home and pressed my Mom’s leg. This old lady speaks kindly with affection on us. Her desire was to buy a home in our colony which never came true. Someone else bought the home they were planning to buy. I still remember her bringing beautiful garland of jasmine and offering it to the little Saibaba inside my Sai temple at home.
I had this dream 2 to 3 years back. I honestly forgot. It was as if Annachi Amma is telling me, “Venkat. Light 4 lamps to Saibaba in the temple”. I could clearly see her face in the dream.
The next-day, I searched for a plate, took 4 earthen lamps and lit 4 lamps on the plate and kept it outside the Sai temple. Our temple will always get dark due to smoke from these 4 lamps but I continue to do this till this day.
That week, I saw Annachi amma walking near our home towards their shop. I called her and showed the 4 lamps infront of Sai. I told her about the dream and said I am praying for her well-being.
Every year, she used to come to our home for Gollu during September-October. I used to start to Saibaba temple and smile to her when she comes in. Last year, she told me that she has severe pain and I gave her an ayurvedic oil I got for my Amma. She often expresses this with gratitude.
A week back, they had gone to their hometown for some temple festival. Last night when I was feeding the street dogs Browni and Pasi, I saw ambulance outside their home but felt it could be minor issue and came back to sleep. This morning, we came to know that Annachi Amma passed away. I took my Amma to their home, shed tears and recited Datta Stavam for her.
I will continue to light 4 earthen lamps outside our Sai temple for lifetime.
I believe, Sai uses some good people as instrument to communicate few good things to us.
Now, I want you to connect the dots.
Annachi Amma passed away with out her dream of owning their own home. 20 Years back, her own brother cheated her and took away their home. I believe, her son is building a home somewhere else. Not sure about it. But I want you to understand the moral of the story.
Some people have desires. Their desires will never come true until they pass-away. But they remain good. They hold on to life. They live a good life. They continue to show devotion on Guru and God.
Seems, in her hometown, as a part of temple festival, she participated in a Vilaku pooja ( Women used to offer pooja for Lamp) , came home and passed-away without uttering a word.
I have never shed tears for a neighbor and today I did for I know we lost a kind and affectionate women.
I think she has gone to Sai like a lamp offered to him.
This is why I do not encourage people to often speak of Sai miracles. Miracles happens once in a while. Sometimes, we might face struggles and disappointments in our life, career and relationships. If we only expect miracles from Saibaba, our devotion towards him will oscillate.
These days, I imagine that someday, I am going to die and someone is going to light a camphor on my chest to burn me down to ashes. What remains is the words I spoke and little act of kindness I show on my dear ones. I cannot openly say why I imagine this. Obviously, I love Dhuni and I often imagine I am inside the holy fire of Sai.
Devotion towards Sai should be firm no matter what we face in life.
Stay Strong.
Venkat
