You have mentioned that your in laws like you doing Puja. If it is a typing error then ….
Please keep in mind while shifting to a different place – Puja place should be elevated few feet from the floor by placing a Peeta or table. See that puja ingredients are also at the same height and they are in your walk way.

AS YOU HAVE MENTIONED YOU CAN CONTINUE TO DO PUJA IN THE CUP BOARD:)
