IT’s Temporary

Sairam friends,

Today is Arudhra Darisanam auspicious for Lord Nataraja. My Father woke up early morning as usual and went to Siddhi Vinayaka temple. You can read previous articles I wrote for Arudra Darshan

Chepparai Natarajar Temple – Arudhra Darisanam

Lord Nataraja blessings on Arudhra Darisanam

For today’s theme I was planning to write an article for people who lost their Job due to layoff. I planned something. Somehow did not write it as I know their feelings when they loose job while they have lots of responsibilities. Please hold on and keep yourself motivated.

Technology for Good

I got so many long dreams last night which I don’t remember. At around 5.45 A.M, I heared the words “Akshaya Project”. I slept again and tried to remember what dream I saw. Then, I woke up and searched for it. Sometimes, Baba tells me a word in dream and I will search online to learn about it. At times, the meaning what Sai wanted to actually convey is not understandable.

The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad has a newsletter about Information Technology in Developing Countries

The newsletter carries articles on IT applications in developing countries which have created a socio-economic impact, evaluation of national policies on IT and telecommunications sectors, and paradigms to understand the impact of IT on development.  They had an article about Akshaya Project.

According to Wikipedia, The Akshaya project started in Kerala was the first district-wide e-literacy project in India and one of the largest known Internet Protocol (IP) based wireless networks in the world.Akshaya Project envisages to be a bottom-up model for imparting e-literacy training, delivery of content, services, information and knowledge, that can allow like-minded public and private enterprises – through a collaborative framework – to integrate their goals of profit as well as social objectives, into a sustainable business model for achieving rapid socio-economic change in rural villages of the State.

I wondered what Saibaba wanted me to write about this.

One of the reason could be the effort our government has taken to bring information accessible to every citizen but are the end users using it effectively? In Tamilnadu, the free Laptop scheme made laptop reach thousands of unprivileged.

Today, most students and professionals access internet through their mobile.

The Problem

The problem is we never taught these students how to make use of the Internet. Someone I know personally just completed his MBA. He had this free Laptop for past few years. Most of the time he used to listen to songs and watch movies with it. Once he completed his MBA, He started using it to search for job online.

There is honestly a problem here. We never helped anyone realize the value of internet and how it can help them learn and grow in life. These people were also not interested in it.

Thanks to some Education Startups in India and other initiatives, today School’s have enabled e-learning as part of their curriculum. Why I keep on writing about continuous learning? Because when you don’t have passion to learn, you become ignorant.

Leave the Students aside. They are in the age to enjoy life. How many professionals really have used Technology for good?

IT’s Temporary

I see many people are too much engaged with their work don’t have time or interest to learn. They also do not think of anything else other than their “Work?”. Such dedication towards work is appreciable in the kind of Career we had in past.

Today, Organizations doesn’t care for employee welfare. At least not when they can make better money by not having you with them.

I wonder how many women have a Job in hand when their Husband looses job. Just because one’s husband earns good, many women give up their career or asked to give up. This leads to insecurity. They also don’t have an idea about what to do next.

We don’t have awareness and the reality of our Job. An alternative career may not be possible but alternative thought process for growth is certainly possible.

When an organization employees someone, they are killing the Entrepreneur in a Man and a Women. When these organizations pay them good, how many of these Employees had time and interest in learning further, launching their own start up or at least have a plan for future if they loose their Job?

I have struggled several years in my Career and when ever I cannot do what I dream to do, I felt may be I will try something else. I started doing a regular Job when my parents were too worried about me.

On Saturday, My friend and Myself went to the mall as we had some work there. Then, we walked and were chatting. He told me about his friend ( whom I also know) who was asked to leave the company. They told him to leave by January. He had bought a Luxury flat ( If I can call it that way) and an expensive Car which makes him worry a lot. I wish all these IT professionals who lost their Job have some savings in their hand.

Why I am concerned about all this?

Because when someone is happy, they go to Shirdi, come back, enjoy.

When someone is in pain, they look for solutions. I wish to write an article to inspire and motivate people who lost their job. The least I can do to make them feel Sai’s presence in their life.

Kindly, do not get fed up. I was telling my friends that we will manage such situations because we were almost living like beggars for years…ha ha but honestly, will I be able to manage such situation again in my life?

We live in a cruel society which pokes a Man who don’t have a Job. ( They do irritate a girl too but being a Man, you are supposed to take care of the family, your kids, schooling etc)

Job is considered as a social status and when one does not have a good job, they are seen as a burden in the family.

I can’t count how many parents irritate their kids when they are not able to find a good job.For Gods sake please understand you are living in a country  of 130 Billion. We don’t have a Job for every son and daughter born here. Give them some time and do not compare them with any one else who obviously are going to loose their job after few years when economy fails or the company policy changes.

Let’s get realistic about what we are doing.

Now what will these parents do when their Son and Daughter looses their Job? Again they will start to worry a lot. I am not concerned about people who lost their job but their Wife/Husband, Children, their Mom and Dad. The emotional pain when one looses the Job is unbearable.

I wish these professionals find a better job or at least have enough strength to sustain themselves for time being because good time will come for sure.

I wish to convey few things through this article

1. Keep learning and update yourself.

2. Learn Life skills – Anything other than your IT career or any career for that matter which you can use to survive when things goes wrong.

3. Encourage your Wife to continue with her career. This will be supportive.

4. Teach your kids value of Money and help them learn beyond their School books.

5. Be strong internally. See if you can create a Start Up or do any other work which suits you.

IT’s Temporary and this situation too is Temporary.

This is going to pass on.

Good times will come.

Sai is with you.

Venkat
