How to be Dedicated in the work you do?

Sairam friends,

I was not doing much work yesterday as I have habit of giving up when ever something upsets me. I was simply showing my teeth and speaking to friends and once in a while thinking what I am going to do in my life. I was not able to read any useful articles also as am feeling in-secured now a days. Anyway, Today I have to be sincere and continue my work.

Last night, I stayed back longer in Office as my friend was working. I was searching for some good books to buy online and speaking odd stuff. It must be around 8.30 – 9  when I noticed most of the staff left but a girl was doing her work. I asked her why she doesn’t go yet and she told me that she has some work to do. Then I moved to other team where some guys were working and they also seem to work long hours and go late every single day.

I am not speaking about IT Professionals simply staying back in office doing nothing. I know my friends really are doing some work and they do it with sincerity.  When ever I see these girls and guys working long hours I see them with their father’s or Mother’s eyes. I start to think if they had food? Are they not hungry? When are they going to chat with friends, sleep and relax?

Have I ever been sincere and dedicated in my work?

I started to think the reasons for the failures I faced in my life. When I was in film industry, I never really worked hard. I always wished to run out of Editing room and will be going to German Cultural center to have Tea and snacks, watch film festivals and simply walk.

When I was a freelancer, I had to work day and night at times but probably, I wasn’t too sincere in what I did or I din’t love what I did.

The only time, I was sincere and dedicated in the work was during the years I worked as a Faculty teaching Editing in a Film School in Mumbai. I enjoyed teaching and I even now, I like teaching others the little I know in any field of interest. I used to work from morning 8 to night 8 handling 4 batches of students and even work on Saturday.

Now the point is, even in this work, I was not behaving like a faculty. When my students fear for exam, I used to help them write exams easily by telling them answers myself..he he….obviously it was just a small exam for them to get certificates.

When I decided to settle in Coimbatore to live with my parents, I had to do MBA showing the world I am fit for a other Jobs and fortunately I am surviving as a content writer ( and I do web research as that suits me better). I love what I do as I get opportunity to do analysis and learn about various technology, companies and business trends happening across the globe.

I know for sure, I am not sincere and dedicated like few other people at work. They really give their heart and soul in what they do. I had always wanted to to be an Entrepreneur but does that mean I must not be sincere as an employee?

Sai has been very sincere in the works he did.

Sai himself tells that he was working for few people in Sai Satcharitra chapter 32

Baba’s Sarcar

Baba gave a story of his boyhood as follows:- “When I was a youngster, I was in search of bread and went to Beedgaum. There I got embroidery work. I worked hard, sparing no pains. The employer was very much pleased with Me. Three other boys worked before Me. The first got Rs. 50/- the second Rs. 100/- and the third Rs. 150/-.

And I was given twice the whole of this amount, viz. Rs. 600/-. After seeing my cleverness, the employer loved me, praised me and honored me with a full dress, a turban for the head and a shell a for the body, etc.

I kept this dress intact without using it. I thought that what a man might give does not last long and it is always imperfect. But what My Sarcar (God) gives, lasts to the end of time. No other gift from any man can be compared to His. My Sarcar says “Take, take,” but everybody comes to me and says ‘Give, give.’ Nobody attends carefully to the meaning of what I say. My Sarcar’s treasury (spiritual wealth) is full, it is overflowing.

I say, “Dig out and take away this wealth in cartloads, the blessed son of a true mother should fill himself with this wealth. The skill of my Fakir, the Leela of my Bhagwan, the aptitude of my Sarcar is quite unique. What about Me? Body (earth) will mix with earth, breath with air. This time won’t come again. I go somewhere, sit somewhere; the hard Maya troubles Me much, still I feel always anxiety for My men. He who does anything (spiritual endeavour) will reap its fruit and he who remembers these words of Mine will get invaluable happiness.”

In this Leela Saibaba says that when he worked for others, he really was Sincere and dedicated at work. Obviously Sai also tells that the worldly work giving by people can bring in materialistic benefit but only when a person takes spiritual efforts and remember God, they will be blessed with cart loads of divine treasure.

The Moral of this Incident in Sai Satcharitra could be one must be sincere in the work he/she is doing and at the same time take interest in spiritual efforts. Now a days some people just think Money is everything and keep working but they get spoilt with bad habits. Spiritual efforts doesn’t just mean doing Pooja and going to temples. It simply means keeping oneself pure at heart and living a good life.

How to be Dedicated in the work you do?

I wonder if I deserve to write this. I wish everyone who reads this learns to be dedicated in any small or big job they get. Some people keep complaining that they don’t have a job. When they do have one, they are more into office politics, worries about growth etc.

Simply keep doing your work and someday you will be rewarded.

If you don’t like a job, make sure you take proper steps to take up a better job and then quit the old job. I believe doing what You love to do and enjoying it will make you sincere and dedicated.

Sai bless all my friends who are sincere and dedicated at work. I never speak much to them nor I know them personally. I simply see them and sometimes, You don’t need a book or story to inspire you. When you see some of these girls and guys, you naturally get inspired.

Now my Father is asking if I am not getting ready for work. More to write …

Please share your experience at work place and how you tried to be dedicated in what you do?

Love,

Venkat
