With folded hands, I lay my head at your feet

Sairam friends,

Once in a while, I wish to write about lyrics from Shirdi Sai Baba Aarti.

Here’s the first sentence in Saibaba Kakad Aarti sung early in the morning.

1. Joduniyaa kara charanee ttevilaa mathaa
Parisawee vinanthee maajzee Sadgurunaathaa
With folded hands, I lay my head at your feet. O Sadgurunatha, please listen to my entreaty

Worshiping Saints must be done with utmost respect. We must be polite to them both internally and externally. Hence Das Ganu describes that with folded hands, he lays his heart at the holy feet of Saibaba. Its easy to show our politeness and simplicity externally. But even I have not been polite to Saibaba internally. Sadguru – The True Guru is the one we can’t after several years of good Karma but do we honestly show our immense love and respect on Sai?

We bow to Sai externally but internally, we argue with him.

The next line is how a prayer should be.

Many times, I have told Baba. “Look. I am serving so much and you never bother me”.

This ego and harsh attitude hurts Sai to core. I am supposed to be humble. Very humble that I accept what ever Sai blesses me with. Our prayers must be expression of love and it must be done politely. We never know if our needs and desires are right. So with pure devotion, we must bow to Sai and tell him our needs.

So why should a Saint listen to our needs? So we must first humbly request Sai Baba to listen to our prayers.
