This is 100 years since Shirdi Saibaba’s Mahasamadhi and all over India and abroad devotees are organizing programmes and events to celebrate the occasion. Saibaba himself encourages such gathering and celebrations but as far as I see there are both sides to the coin.
- Positively speaking, Celebrating Saibaba’s Mahasamadhi or any other Sai event like bhajan etc enhances one’s devotion on Sai. Some people who visit the temple during such events also get introduced to Sai devotion through such mass gatherings.
- On the negative side, People who organize events and those who serve in temple etc see it as a way to celebrate their ego and not Sai himself. Further, such mass gatherings will not result in peace for everyone involved as times have changed since Baba’s Mahasamadhi. Now a days, people just wanna show off, they want to be respected, they want to show they are influential. So we are just complicating Sai devotion.
Having said that, I am not writing this for this day. As I always say, even after 100 or 1000 years, people who read what I expressed must console themselves if they feel let down and hurt.
Always believe in this –
“Saibaba is in you as antaryami and you can always have his darshan by remembering him.”
Everything external is not in your control. So don’t worry about it.
Try to simplify your Sai devotion.
Be happy internally.
Be happy deep in your heart. That’s where Sai lives!
